 Entry Criteria

Entries for Best Use of Data Science/AI in Public Services must be self-nominated.

Public services are intended to serve the entire community. Disruptive technologies in this space aim to reshape future public services to change how nations interact with their citizens, making services easier to consume, faster and more secure. Entries to this award must showcase how they have applied Data Science/AI as part of a live implementation delivering public services to citizens.

The solutions/products described in the entry must have been developed within the past 12-18 months.

It is recommended that your application is submitted in data science context rather than marketing literature as each submission will be marked against the criteria set out below and will be reviewed by a data science professional.

Scoring

Nominees will be scored on a number of different criteria, receiving a score out of 100

Problem

  • Demonstrate the organisation’s understanding of the problem at hand and how it is impacting citizens. Document how the project came about, the key stakeholders within your organization, and how you got the project off the ground. [10 Points]

Solution Overview

  • Document the solution developed to the solve the problem identified. Provide an overview of the implementation of the solution and how it was deployed. Showcase the complexities and challenges you faced and how you overcame them. [15 Points]
  • Describe the data science/AI skills, tools and techniques that were applied in order to deliver this project, in terms of both quantitative analysis of datasets and the application of Data Science/AI techniques to the problem at hand. [15 Points]

Innovation

  • Outline the innovation in your solution. What differentiates it from other solutions that have been applied to public services in the past? [20 Points]

Impact

  • Clearly describe how your solution to the problem is delivering real change for citizens consuming the public services in question. Applications should clearly call out the number of citizens receiving benefit from the solution and how this improved their lives. [30 Points]

Vision

  • Describe your vision for your solution into the future. How can the discussed public services be further improved through the application of Data Science/AI? What other public services are you intending to improve through the application of Data Science/AI? [10 points]
